Balázs Polyák looks on as his shot evades the keeper to complete his first senior hat-trick.

Brook Street Athletic stormed back to winning ways with an emphatic 7-0 win at Danny’s American Bhoy’s this afternoon.

Balázs Polyák was destroyer-in-chief with four goals with Adam Doyle netting twice and Jackie Underhill getting Brook Street’s other goal.

Brook Street were slow to get going after Balázs had made the breaktrough in only eight minutes, but Brook Street’s second goal was well worth the wait.

Adam Doyle broke down the home side’s left flank before firing over a tempting deep cross. Jackie Underhill looked as if he’d over-run it before turning back to execute a trademark scissor kick which saw the ball fly into the net.

Four minutes later and it was 3-0 as Diego Misuraca threaded through an inch-perfect pass that Balázs Polyák fired into the net.

Seven minutes before the break Brook Street were awarded a free-kick in a dangerous position. Whether he was unsighted or simply misjudged the flight of the ball, Alex McConnell in the home goal dived the wrong way and Adam Doyle’s shot landed in the net.

Brook Street hadn’t finished tormenting the home side just yet and two minutes from the break their defence failed to clear Janko Fila’s shot and the ball bounced around the box before landing at Balázs Polyák’s feet and the young Hungarian wasted no time in bagging his first senior hat-trick.

The second half was much more of a pedestrian affair with the points already in the bag for the visitors, however they still managed to net another two goals to underline their dominance.

The first came three minutes after the restart when Adam Doyle broke through before unleashing an unstoppable thunderbolt from outside the box to net his second goal of the game.

Adam was involved in the build-up to Brook Street’s final goal too, playing a one-two with Balázs Polyák which left the striker free in the box to slam home his fourth goal and Brook Street’s seventh.

“We got everything we deserved from the game”, remarked a delighted Joe Anderson afterwards, “and it’s always special when a young striker bags his first senior hat-trick. That’s something Balázs will never forget”.

“We’ve had him in the gym during the close season and it’s certainly paying off now. He’s bulked up and it’s much more difficult to knock off the ball now. I think this could be a big season for him”, the coach added.

“Adam Doyle has picked up where he left off last season, scoring two and getting an assist, so that can only be good for us”.

Elsewhere, early pace-setters Balvenie United made it two wins from two, hitting Desired Opponent for six without reply, Falkland eased past Athletico Machrie, running out 5-0 winners at Mount Pleasant, while Wick Academy picked up their first win of the season defeating Long Shot 3-0 on the road.
