Onesimo Murube fires home his third goal in the 9-1 rout of Dimsdale Gamers II this afternoon.

Athletic stormed to the top of Division IV.37 with a superb display that resulted in a 9-1 mauling for Dimsdale Gamers II at New Home Park this afternoon.

Tormentor-in-chief was new signing Onesimo Murube who netted a hattrick on his league debut, while Yann Schories weighed in with a brace.

Speaking afterwards, a clearly delighted Onesimo said, “I really enjoyed my first full game for Brook Street. The lads have really helped me this week, and the fans were brilliant. Everyone has made me very welcome, and I’m really happy to get off to such a good start and start re-paying everyone”.

He continued, “We’ve now hit first place, and it’s up to us to build on this and ensure we stay in first place until the end of the season”.

His coach was equally delighted saying, “Onesimo has already paid back a huge part of his transfer fee, and has become an instant hit with the fans”.

He continued, “For and 18 year-old, he has shown great maturity and composure to net an excellent hattrick in his first full game for the club, and already shows signs of being a superb signing for the club”.

He added, “Don’t get me wrong, although Onesimo is taking all the plaudits, this was a first-rate team performance. All our players fully deserve credit for this”.

Brook Street’s win sees them hit top spot for the first time this season , ahead of Gazza’s Lads, who we face next week, courtesy of our significantly better goal difference.
