Paul O'Healihy slams home his second goal against Flisk Wanderers at New Home Park today.

Brook Street got 2011 off to the perfect start with a 5-0 victory over Flisk Wanderers at New Home Park this afternoon. Two goals within a minute from Paul O’Healihy set Athletic on their way, with further goals from Eldvinas Sumlinskas and Maranaj Batusha giving the home side a 4-0 half time lead, and killing off the Fifer’s challenge in the process.

Jose Eransus added a fifth in the fifty-second minute, but by then the match was over as a contest, as Arjen Bogaert said afterwards.

“We did all the hard work in the first half and were out of site by the break. Jose’s goal improved the winning margin, but to be honest we were safe by then.

The win keeps Athletic two points clear at the top, and although we are only sitting in a qualification place the coach is not too concerned.

“It would be good to be in an automatic promotion place, but we’ve got nine more games to turn it around.”

Athletic now head to South Africa for the midweek friendly.
