Al Caird fires in our opening goal against FC Atheisti Náchod at New Home Park this morning.

Athletic’s reserve side recorded their first win since the beginning of December with an excellent 5-1 win over FC Atheisti Náchod at New Home Park this morning.

Al Caird netted a double, with Athletic’s other goals coming from Jake MacConnechy, Marcus Lövman and Alfie MacAusland. The visitors’ goal came from Dutch striker IJsbrand Veldmate.

“We played well today, and the boys got their reward”, said Arjen Bogaert adding, “They can be pleased with their efforts and it was a real team effort”.

It wasn’t all good news for Athletic today, as just after scoring his goal, Alfie MacAusland had to be helped from the pitch following a heavy challenge.

It was however confirmed this evening that the injury was not as severe as initially thought, and he should be ok for next week’s return match in the Czech Republic.
