Marcus Lovman knocks the ball over Igor Negovanovic in the Conmans goal to complete our 4-0 win.

Two goals from José Eransus along with singles from Onésimo Murube and Marcus Lövman gave Brook Street a comfortable 4-0 win over Conmans Munters at New Home Park yesterday, in a match they dominated from start to finish.

Onésimo Murube opened the scoring after twenty minutes, finishing off a move coming in from the right. Within a minute it was 2-0, José Eransus firing home following a fine solo run.

Brook Street’s fans had to wait until ten minutes after the break before José Eransus increased the lead to 3-0, firing home from an acute angle. Athletic visibly lowered the tempo of the match at this point, but the home team were in complete control of the match.

Conmans were on damage limitation by this stage, but they could do nothing to prevent Marcus Lövman from finishing off a terrific move through the middle nine minutes from the end.

The win took Athletic to within two wins of the title, however Arjen played this down saying, “We take each game as it comes. We’re all aware of our position but we are not going to allow this to distract us. We know that we have to keep winning our games, and that is exactly what we plan to do”.

Meanwhile, the club confirmed this afternoon that our friendly this week will see Moldovan Divizia II side Zernoff FC visit New Home Park in the first leg of a double-header; we will travel to Chişinău the following week.
