Kyle Fair fires in our equaliser against Lead Balloons this afternoon.

Brook Street and Lead Balloons fought out an entertaining draw at New Home Park this afternoon. Both goals came in the first half, Kyle Fair’s strike after half an hour levelling the scores after Balloons’ Toni Loikas had given them the lead ten minutes earlier.

Once again Athletic punched well above their weight, with Ville Yrjölä pulling off a couple of point-blank saves to deny the visitors when they did manage to break through a highly organised home team.

“We set up to match them, and that exactly what we achieved”, said Arjen afterwards. “We got our tactics spot on today and we have learnt from last weekend’s disastrous showing”.

He continued, “Every point is a prisoner in this league and with the margin between survival and relegation being so tight, every point we win takes us that wee bit closer to safety”.

“Warriors have already been cut adrift at the bottom, but the difference between us in third and the team in seventh place is just one win. It couldn’t be tighter”.

He added, “Survival has to be our aim this season, and we’ve made an excellent start in that quest. We can’t however afford any slip-ups if we are to achieve our goal. We have another very difficult away game on Saturday, but we’ll be looking to take at least a point again”.
