Onésimo Murube fires home our equalising goal a minute after we went behind.

Athletic stormed back to the top of the league this evening with a 7-1 demolition of Jimmy’s Wiggles at New Home Park.

It was the visitors however who stunned the home side by opening the scoring, against the run of play, nine minutes into the match. This only served to irritate the home players, who spent the remaining eighty-one minutes besieging the Jimmy’s goal and pummelling the visitors into submission.

The visitors lead however lasted less than a minute as, straight from kick-off, the ball was fed through to Onésimo Murube who having embarrassed Artur Paździerz, his marker, slammed the ball into the net.

Three minutes later and Athletic were in front. Having picked the ball up deep, José Eransus scampered down the left evading a number of tackles before cutting in and cracking home the goal that completed the fightback.

Athletic were now into their stride and with twenty-four minutes played, Onésimo Murube powered home a header to net our third goal.

Ten minutes later and it was 4-1, Andy Hautala on target this time as Athletic turned the screw, however ten minutes after the break the Englishman had to leave the fray following a nasty collision. Daniel Hasnaş was his replacement.

Just prior to this Paul O’Healihy had rattled the bar from a free kick, and on the hour mark Onésimo Murube also chipped the paintwork.

Igor Bulatov replaced Yann Schories in the seventy-fifth minute, and it was from a cross by the Ukrainian that Athletic finally made it 5-1. Having swept past two defenders he whipped the ball over to Kyle Fair who rose to head home.

A minute later, Igor himself got in close to fire in our sixth goal before Paul O’Healihy wrapped up the scoring with three minutes left to make it a magnificent seven.

“I got the reaction to conceding the goal that I wanted. It only served to annoy our players and we ended up with an excellent win”, commented Arjen after the match.

When asked about Andy’s injury he said, “He’s away to hospital to be checked over as it was a bad head knock, but hopefully he’s fine. They might keep him in overnight just to be sure.
