Dario Zintu slams home the opening goal of the game and send us on the road to the Second Round.

Brook Street eased into the Scottish Cup Second Round with a comfortable 10-0 away win over Clarks XI this morning.

A devastating first half saw Athletic 5-0 up at the break, and although the Brook Street players visibly took their foot off the pedal, the New Home Park side remarkably still managed to fire in a further five goals in the second half.

Dario Zintu opened the scoring in the fifth minute, and within three minutes the game was wrapped up as first Onésimo Murube unleashed a thunderbolt to make it 2-0 in the sixth minute, before Paul O’Healihy curled a terrific free-kick in two minutes later.

Liran Tzur, who had come on for the injured Bruno Le Ber, made it 4-0 just after half an hour, and Onésimo Murube made it 5-0 with thirty-six minutes showing on the clock.

Onésimo completed his hat-trick with twenty minutes left, and Dario Zintu netted his second goal of the game eight minutes later.

The floodgates really opened for the home side in the final six minutes with goals from Igor Bulatov either side of Maranaj Batusha’s volley wrapping up the scoring as Brook Street strolled into the Second Round draw.

It wasn’t all good news for the New Home Park side though as Bruno Le Ber was forced out of the game midway through the first half with what looks like a bad knee injury.

Arjen said, “Bruno’s got his knee packed in ice, and will see the specialist once the swelling has gone down”. He continued, “He’s definitely out of the league curtain-raiser at the weekend, and will probably be out for a couple of weeks if I’m being honest”.

On the result itself he said, “It was good to hit the ground running, and to score goals from every department was particularly pleasing. It’s of course only to be expected that there will be big scores in the First Round, but we played well and scored some well-worked goals”.

“Now our attention turns to the league opener on Saturday”.

The Second Round will see us travel down to Midlothian next Wednesday to face Division V.168 side peragrines.
