Despite being under considerable pressure, Onésimo Murube coolly lobs the Sedra keeper to open the scoring.

Brook Street’s reserves got back to winning ways this morning, edging out their counterparts from Bosnian side FK Sedra by the odd goal in seven in a highly entertaining match at New Home Park.

Onésimo Murube fired us into the lead in the nineteenth minute when he deftly lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box, however Sedra roared right back five minutes later when Dirk Verstrappen swept home the ball from a corner.

Andy Hautala fired in from an acute angle just before the half-hour mark to restore our advantage, and Emanuel Bohucký increased the lead with thirty-one minutes played.

Brook Street were threatening to run away with the match with thirty-seven minutes on the clock when Andy Hautala netted our fourth goal after a fine solo run. However, the visitors retaliated immediately and reduced the deficit, Pierre-Yves Vanginderdeuren making the half-time score 4-2.

After such an all-action first half, it could have been expected that the second would fall somewhat short, however Sedra really stepped up a gear after the break and had the home side pinned back for long periods.

Indeed, had it not been for some poor finishing, the Brook Street defence could have been put under considerably more pressure. However they were torn apart with twelve minutes remaining as Sedad Bajric got the visitors back to 4-3, and only Emilio’s nerves of steel prevented Aleksa Jankovic from levelling the scores.

“It was a terrific match for the spectators who turned up in such horrendous weather”, said Arjen. “It probably wasn’t so good from my point of view however as we once again had a lot of possession without creating much”.

“Ok”, he admitted, “I’m perhaps being a bit harsh as we have scored four goals, but we’ve conceded three and it could have been more. We must tighten up at the back or we could end up on the wrong end of a scoreline”.

He finished by saying, “Perhaps we have been too cavalier going forward, and we may have to play more defensively in future. We’ll look at that further in training”.
