Germán Olmos Ribas flashes home a header to make the score 3-0 in this morning’s match.

Athletic moved closer to the semi-finals of Edition 9 of the Brook Street Cup with a 6-0 win over Seaview at New Home Park this morning. Igor Bulatov hit a hat-trick while our other goals came from Liran Tzur, Germán Olmos Ribas and Kenny Corney.

“The gulf between the two sides was clear to those who attended the match”, said Arjen afterwards. “We totally dominated the match and didn’t really have to get out of second gear”.

He added, “We always had something in the tank, just in case it was needed, and could have upped the pace if required”.

It could have been a whole different match for hat-trick hero Igor Bulatov though, the Ukrainian being just seconds from being substituted after picking up a knock. Fortunately, he was given a chance to run it off, as within a minute he scored the first of his three goals”.

Arjen admitted, “We decided to give him five minutes to see if he could run it off”, but we seriously considered withdrawing him as a precaution”.

“Fortunately, he was fine though, which was just as well for us!” laughed the coach.

Brook Street now know that a win or draw against Zwart-geel in Belgium next week will almost certainly be enough to earn us a place in the semi-finals.
