Onésimo Murube fires in our consolation goal against Much Rucking.

Brook Street crashed to their first league defeat this afternoon, going down 2-1 to Much Rucking in the Marsh in a bruising encounter at Mile Deep Stadium.

Both sides finished the match with ten men; Rucking’s Márk Pelle having received his marching orders for a second bookable offence with seven minutes remaining, a tackle which saw Athletic’s Andy Harte helped off with all our substitutes committed.

The home side were leading 2-0 at this point, however within three minutes, Onésimo Murube had reduced the lead but despite an onslaught in the dying minutes, Brook Street couldn’t force home the equaliser.

“We can’t afford to give teams a two-goal start and expect to take anything from the game”, said a frustrated Arjen Bogaert after the match.

He continued, “We’ve worked very hard to get where we are in this division, but we cannot afford to be complacent if we are to maintain this level”.

“We’ve now got a very big game against Carbrain next weekend, and the players know exactly what is required”.
