Onésimo Murube finishes off our third goal to make the points all but safe.

Brook Street roared right back into the title race with a convincing 5-0 win over Comenses in front of a capacity crowd at New Home Park this afternoon, and with Much Rucking’s narrow defeat to kaos at home and jabba’s shock home defeat to Allstarz, only two points now separate the top four sides.

“We always expected this season to be tight, but we’d no idea that it would be as close as this going into the run in”, said Marcus at the post-match press conference.

He continued, “Results have really gone in our favour today and were on a good run, so things are set up perfectly for our trip to face kaos next weekend”.

“I hadn’t realised that we’re the division’s top scorers until it was pointed out to me earlier today”, said Marcus “and as kaos are the meanest defensively, something’s got to give next weekend. Hopefully it’s their defensive record!”

Turning to today’s game, Marcus said, “We were dominant throughout and I thought we were outstanding going forward. It’s hard to say how we played defensively, as the midfield mopped everything up before it even reached them, so they’ll seldom have a quieter day”.

He added, “I was particularly pleased for Onésimo who’s had a lean spell of it of late, but he took both his goals very well, as did Nemanja who is definitely leading by example”.

He then concluded, “And giving Paul a chance from a set piece at that range is nine times out of ten going to result in a goal”.

“We’re playing with confidence and our result here along with the results elsewhere will ensure that we are totally up for next weekend’s match”.

Onésimo Murube opened the scoring for Brook Street this afternoon with only six minutes played, and Nemanja Janković doubled our lead a quarter of an hour later.

Onésimo made the points all but safe before the half-hour mark, but the home fans in the capacity crowd had to wait until two minutes into the second half before Nemanja fired home his second and our fourth goal.

Brook Street were happy to knock the ball about at this point, however with sixty-two minutes played Onésimo was fouled about twenty yards out. At this range, there was only ever going to be one player behind it, and Paul O’Healihy duly obliged, curling the ball into the net to make it 5-0 and wrap up the scoring in style.
