Jake MacConnechy unleashes an unstoppable shot to blast us into the lead with ten minutes remaining.

A Jake MacConnechy thunderbolt ten minutes from time was enough to separate the sides and ensured that Brook Street would be heading back up the A92 with all three points this evening.

The win was our first at Mile Deep Stadium, and could ultimately prove to be priceless as it took us out of the relegation places for the first time since the opening week of the season.

“We’ve performed the classic smash and grab, let’s be completely honest about this”, admitted a delighted Marcus at full-time.

“They tried to press the game, so it was always going to take something special to break the deadlock. Jake’s goal certainly comes into that category”, he continued.

“The other results went our way today, so we’re now right back in the fight to stay up”.

The coach however refused to acknowledge that his own presence in the defence has steadied the ship. Despite the side keeping a clean sheet in the last two games and what the fans are now openly stating, Marcus said, “It’s not about one person; it’s always been and will always be a team effort at this club”.

He cannot deny however that two wins on the bounce have the side right back in the thick of it.
