Oleg Zhigalov rises high to head home our equaliser. Ultimately it was to prove to be a consolation goal.

Brook Street’s three game unbeaten run came to a shuddering halt this afternoon as the side went down by three goals to one in Glasgow.

Xacobe León Rodrigo opened the scoring in the eighteenth minute, and although Oleg Zhigalov’s twenty-fifth minute strike saw the sides go into the break level, second half strikes from Sepp Köslich and Florencjusz Wilczewski ensured that the points would be staying in the west.

“We’re all really disappointed”, admitted Marcus at the post-match press conference. “We didn’t take the chances when they arose, and we’ve paid the price”.

The defeat saw us drop back to sixth place, but with defeats elsewhere for jabbathehut and kaos c.f meant that we remain three and four points respectively ahead of those clubs.

With Brook Street travelling to face kaos next weekend, the importance of the fixture cannot be doubted, as Marcus alluded to after this afternoon’s match.

“With only four games left, time is running out and everyone is fighting for their lives. A win for us would send us a lot of the way towards securing the relative safety of the play-off places, but defeat would throw us right back into the mix”.

He continued, “There’s absolutely no margin for error and we’ll be going all-out to secure our place in this division”.
