Brook Street embarked on a surprise spending-spree this morning capturing 18-year-old midfielders Matthew Cocker and Philip Mullally from their parent club, English side, FC Astley for a combined fee of just over £273,000.

Speaking after the signings, Marcus said, “We’ve been keeping tabs of the lads since we became aware of their availability late last night”.

“We had a bit of competition to secure Matt’s signature, but we’re delighted to have managed to bring both our targets onboard”.

“Both Matt and Phil show the kind of promise that we are looking for, and they’ll be trained to fulfil their potential. I also felt that it was important to secure the signing of both players as I think they will progress faster”.

Turning on certain press elements, Marcus then said, “Some more cynical journalists may consider that signing these lads may indicate that we are resigned to playing in Division IV. On the contrary, we are preparing for the future and a future in Division II.”

The two newcomers will get their first chance to impress in Brook Street’s friendly match in Macedonia next week.
