Abel Soffia powers home a header to level the scores.

Brook Street made very heavy weather of it, but ultimately fought back to defeat Hannoverscher Sportverein 4-2 at AWD Arena this afternoon.

The home side had taken the lead in the fourth minute and although Abel Soffia levelled with an excellent header in thirty-two minutes, parity lasted less than a minute as the Brook Street defence switched off allowing Yau Dinggui to fire H96 back in front.

However H96 had no answer to the onslaught they faced in the second half, and goals from Emanuel Bohucký, Nemanja Janković and a deflected Paul O’Healihy free kick wrapped up the points for Brook Street.

Afterwards, Marcus said, “It would have been absolutely criminal if we hadn’t taken maximum points today. We were so on top throughout the game that I think we should have won by a much greater margin”.

He continued, “Had we not been so profligate in front of goal then perhaps we would have had a more convincing win, but nonetheless we should be putting these chances away”.

The coach’s annoyance however was tempered by the fact that the win had propelled us up into second place in the division, and has seen us amass more points in three games than we managed in the first half of last season.

“It is quite an achievement, there is no doubt about that” he said, “but we cannot afford to rest on our laurels. The division is extremely tight and we could conceivably go from second top to second bottom by losing a game, so we must keep the pressure up”.
