Following this morning’s injury to Ville Yrjölä, Brook Street have moved quickly to secure back-up for Ezequiel Alexandrino by signing 18 year-old Swiss keeper Aurel Bernhard from German Liga IX side FSV Froschen on a short-term deal.

The transfer fee involved was in the region of £139,000 but it’s money which had to be spent admitted Marcus.

“Keepers are expensive for what you get there’s no doubting that, but Aurel is young so we’re likely to make money when we sell him on. At worst, we’d get our money back, so we can recoup our costs and he gets trained up; it’s a win/win situation for both the club and player”.

He continued, “There was no point in breaking the bank for a player that we’ll need for only a relatively short time so Aurel was perfect for us”.

Aurel will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s match away to sooside athletico.
