The reserves ran out comfortable winners in Qatar this afternoon, hitting eight unanswered goals against the Worm.

Andrew Cleary hit another hat-trick and there was a brace for Lloyd Stephen. Our other goals came from Garabed Palasyan, Brian Burwick and Matt Cocker.

The home side did their best to press the Brook Street players, but time and again the visitors were too fleet-footed for them and the Qatari’s were left chasing shadows.

“We were very good this afternoon”, said Marcus afterwards. “We showed a real determination while playing some great football”.

He continued, “We showed how classy we can play, and I’ve now got a bit of a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s league match. That is however the type of problem I like”.

The coach was full of praise for his players and also said, “To be fair, everyone played their part, but I thought our midfield in particular were immense today. They were the real engine room of the team, and taking nothing away from our front two who hit five of our goals and were pretty much unstoppable today, it was the midfield who were really running the show”.

The players also came through the match unscathed meaning that Marcus will have a full squad from which to select his squad for Saturday.
