The reserves recorded a fine 3-0 win in Mongolia this morning thanks to goals from Lloyd Stephen, Brian Burwick and Fraser Carragher.

Lloyd opened the scoring against Real Tafano with a trademark header just after the quarter-hour mark, and Brian Burwick doubled our lead six minutes before the break.

However, it took until midway through the second half before Brook Street closed the game off when Fraser Carragher slid home a perfect penalty.

The game became more heated at this point and a couple of Tafano players picked up bookings for shocking challenges, one of which saw Lloyd Stephen pick up a slight injury.

Marcus was not too fazed by this though saying, “It was a sore one with it being so cold out there, but once he heated up again he was fine”.

The coach also expressed satisfaction that the 4-5-1 system had worked well. “We’re finally getting to grips with it, which will give us options for certain games in future”.

The coach was also particularly pleased by the fact that all three goal scorers were ‘home-grown’, saying, “It is great when things like that happen as it proves how well the Academy is working”.

Andrew Oswald, the Academy’s latest graduate made his debut on the wing, and the coach was full of praise as he said, “Andrew put in a very good shift. He made a number of good runs and used the ball very well. He flagged a bit in the second half, but that was only to be expected. We’ll work on his stamina, but I’m sure he will progress very well in the seniors”.
