Andrew Cleary fires in our third goal to effectively kill the game before half-time.

The reserves recorded a fine 4-0 win over Lebanese side Germania Ballklauer 2013 e.V. at New Home Park this morning.

Brook Street got off to a flying start, with Lloyd Stephen powering a header home to open the scoring in the second minute, and Abel Soffia doubled the lead with another header eighteen minutes later.

Andrew Cleary fired in our third goal with thirty-seven minutes played which all but killed the game before half-time, and Abel Soffia’s free kick wrapped up the scoring with twenty minutes remaining.

“We were solid without being spectacular”, admitted Marcus at full-time. “It was a real workmanlike performance and although it maybe lacked flair, we did what we had to do”.

The coach praised winger Soffia who set up one goal and got two himself, saying “Abel’s been a bit off form lately, but today’s performance shows he’s getting back to normal”.

He continued, “Abel’s not renowned for his heading ability and he takes some stick on the training pitch, but that was a great header he scored with today. He’ll take confidence from that performance, that’s for sure”.

Also meriting praise was Matt Cocker who put in another commanding performance in the middle of the park.

“Matt is a real unsung hero as a lot of his work goes unnoticed”, said the coach, “but I’ve certainly been noticing and I think a move up to the first team squad won’t be far off”.
