There was disappointment for the reserves yesterday evening as they lost out 2-1 to Sport NEC e Benfica in Dubai.

Andrew Cleary levelled Yaqoub Al-Baloushi’s nineteenth minute opener five minutes after the break, but Al-Baloushi’s second of the game just nine minutes later proved to be the winner.

“They were very strong in the middle of the park and that proved decisive”, admitted Marcus afterwards. We didn’t play anywhere near the level we can, but it’s the end of the season so I guess we can cut the players some slack”.

SayadaMeanwhile, it was announced this evening that the reserves’ final friendly of the season will see them travel to Tunisia to face E.S.Sayada in a re-match of our friendly last season.

In that match we ran out 5-0 winners at New Home Park, but that was against a short-handed side.

“They look pretty strong now, and as they play in the second tier they’re clearly going to pose us a real challenge. It looks like it will be a cracking game” said the coach.
