Nemanja Jankovic fires in another goal against Chong Nonsi FC this morning.

Captain for the day, Nemanja Janković lead by example at New Home Park this morning netting five times as Brook Street ran out 8-0 winners against Thai side Chong Nonsi FC.

Our other goals came from Zsolt Babosss, Matt Cocker and Phil Mullally, but this to all intents and purposed was the Nemanja Janković show.

He opened the scoring in only the second minute from the penalty spot after one of the Chong defenders was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box. It was a very harsh decision, but Nemanja kept his composure to slot the ball home.

He doubled his and Brook Street’s tally in the seventeenth minute, and by just after the half-hour mark he had completed his hat-trick.

Zsolt Baboss got in on the scoring four minutes before the break to make the score 4-0 at half-time; a fair reflection on the first half.

Brook Street eased up in the second half, but five goals in the final twelve minutes ensured the home fans would leave happy.

Nemanja fired in his fourth goal in the seventy-eighth minute and his fifth from a trademark free-kick two minutes later.

Brook Street were rampant by this stage, and Matt Cocker made it 7-0 with five minutes remaining. Not to be outdone, Phil Mullally wrapped up the scoring with three minutes to go.

“The lads put in a tremendous shift this morning and were well worth their win”, said Marcus afterwards.

“Nemanja was on fire today but this was a real team effort”, claimed the coach. “I need these players to be pushing the first team for starting places and performances like this morning’s do exactly that”, he added.

“There’s fierce competition in the team and that is good for the club”, he concluded.
