Andrew Cleary scores in this season’s Scottish Cup.

The club are delighted to announce that eighteen year-old striker Andrew Cleary has become the first Brook Street Athletic player to be called up into the Scotland U-20 squad.

A product of the Academy, Andrew was promoted to the senior side as soon as he turned seventeen at the beginning of last season. In his first season as a senior, Andrew made two appearances in both the league and Scottish Cup, scoring a goal in each.

This season, his competitive appearances have so far been limited to the Cup where he netted three goals in as many games.

Speaking of the call-up this evening, coach Marcus Lövman said, “We’re all absolutely thrilled for Andrew. He’s a tremendous prospect and I’m sure this call-up will push him on to the next level”.

He continued, “We shouldn’t forget also that he’s come through from our Academy and that is a fantastic advertisement for the scouting staff as well as all the hard work Jeff Duilach and his team do”.

“Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that he wins his first cap soon”, he added.

Scotland’s U-20s play their next match, a U-20 World Cup Qualifier on Friday evening against Finland in Oulu. The match kicks off at 1900 BST.
