ThistleCupBrook Street’s involvement in the inaugural Thistle Cup came to an abrupt halt this afternoon in Kirkcaldy when the reserves were soundly beaten by Marchmont Offsiders.

The 6-1 scoreline may have been a bit harsh, but it couldn’t be denied that the Edinburgh side deserved to be in the draw for the next round, as Marcus Lövman admitted afterwards.

“We were up against a quality side today, and while I don’t think the winning margin was an accurate reflection of the game, there’s no denying that they were worth their win”.

“We’ll have to settle for international friendlies from now on in”, he added, “but to be honest, I think we could benefit from a break in competitive matches”.
