Brook Street’s long home league unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt this afternoon with a humiliating 6-0 defeat at the hands of Sparta Bragg. Not only was it a drubbing, but the New Home Park side were beaten by a vastly superior side, and the manner of the defeat will no doubt again place a question mark over the coach’s future.

“We were beaten by an excellent side, but even an average side would have looked good this evening compared to us”, admitted Marcus Lövman afterwards.

“I’ve also got to hold my hands up and say frankly I got the tactics wrong”, he added. “We anticipated they would attack on one flank, but we set up to defend the wrong one. By half time we were chasing a game that was already lost”.

In probably the only plus of the game, Sam Ferretto made his league debut when he came on for Muhammad Noorani for the final ten minutes in a move that was to give the teenager match experience rather than an attempt to turn the game.

Elsewhere, there were wins for FC Auld Reekie who defeated Kessler’s Eleven 3-0 in Edinburgh, Vines Cross who hit four without reply against Sejers Sons, and Vodikavkaz who defeated EK Tuggers 6-2 at Itchypoo Park.
