Leoš Loos opened the scoring this afternoon as we ended our win-less streak on the road.

Athletic recorded their first league away win in almost exactly two seasons this afternoon, running out 4-1 winners in front of a capacity crowd at new boys Sejers Sons.

Leoš Loos opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark, and Andrew Cleary added a second shortly afterwards. Simon Hill pulled a goal back for the home side midway through the half, but goals from Phil Mullally and Nemanja Janković in eighty-four and eighty-five minutes respectively ensured the points would head back up the road to Tayside.

After a poor start to the season, it was clearly a relieved Marcus Lövman who faced the assembled media at the post-match press conference.

“We held the ball well and made the most of our chances”, the coach said. “We’re still not firing on all cylinders, but today’s result was a move in the right direction”.

He continued, “The three points took us up from second bottom to fourth place which illustrates just how tight this league is, and emphasises just how important it is to pick up points on the road where they are more difficult to come by”.

The win was also Brook Street’s first on the road since -*FC BARCELONA*- were beaten 3-1 almost exactly two seasons ago.

“It’s good to get that monkey off our back”, admitted the coach. “Now we’ve got to build on it and put pressure on the teams above us”.

Elsewhere, in the top of the table clash between Sparta Bragg and Vodikavkaz, it was the visitors who emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win. The win sees Vodikavkaz open up a three-point lead at the top of the table.

Vines Cross returned home with three points in the bag having hit Kessler’s Eleven for six, and it was honours even between EK Tuggers and FC Auld Reekie, the match ending 1-1.

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Iranian side A.C. Milan 2009 have accepted our invitation to play a friendly, and they will visit New Home Park on Wednesday. Kick-off as always is at 10:30.
