Brook Street this evening parted company with three players as the club look to restructure. The players leaving are Leandro Di Gaudio who joins Spanish Liga VI outfit La Linea F.C.; Germán Olmos Ribas who leaves for Greek V Ethniki side Olympiakos . FC; and youngster Brad Flint who will now ply his trade in Switzerland for Liga VI side Roter Stern FK.

Admitting that the decision to sell the players, who brought in over £800,000 in transfer fees, would be seen as the side ‘throwing in the towel’ on this season’s league campaign, coach Leoš Loos said, “This is a restructuring that in all honesty I should have carried out at the end of last season, but you always hope for ‘just one more season’ and I’m afraid that isn’t going to happen”.

He continued, “Yes, there will be some who see this as us cutting costs before being relegated, but regardless of whether we stay up or go down, we’ve got to look to the future, and moving on two of our higher wage earners will certainly help us in that”.

“We’ve also got to get the best return we can on more senior players, so while I would like to keep everyone, it’s simply not good in the long term. Brad is a bit different in that he’s down the pecking order for starting places and it would be unfair to keep him here sitting in the stand. He’s a good lad and will do well given the correct coaching”.

“Leo and Germán have been tremendous servants of this club over six and thirteen seasons respectively, and along with Brad, they leave with our very best wishes for the future”.

During those thirteen seasons, Germán made a total of 107 appearances, netting 18 times, while in his six seasons at the club, Leandro Di Gaudio played 73 times for the first team, scoring 3 goals. Brad Flint’s appearances were generally limited to the Cups following his graduation from the Academy, and scored 3 goals in his 9 first team appearances.

We wish them well.
