Brook Street made the perfect start to the new league campaign this afternoon with an excellent 4-0 win over Marcascotties at New Home Park.

Garabed Palasyan opened the scoring in the twenty-second minute and Andy Harte doubled the advantage two minutes later. Emanuel Bohucký added a further two goals after the break to ensure the home team ran out comfortable winners.

“We played some excellent football today and got the win I feel we deserved”, claimed Brook Street coach Leoš Loos afterwards. “We dominated midfield and created some excellent chances. For once, we took them”, he added.

He continued, “It was important that we set out our stall early in the campaign and we’ve done exactly that today. I see this win as a warning shot to the other sides in the league that we mean business!”

The coach also expressed his pleasure that the goals had come from areas of the park rather than from the front line. “It’s important that the goalscoring responsibility is shared out through the side, so that we’re not over-reliant on the strikers. It also poses problems for the opposition as they can’t afford to leave anyone free so, as far as I’m concerned, that’s a win/win for us.

Brook Street’s 4-0 win wasn’t the largest of the day however as that honour went to Maxum who hit seven without reply against FC POLAND. There was also a 4-0 win for Basel-Celtic in the ‘battle of the new boys’ against St Mongos, and in the highest scoring match of the day, Stirling Bridge edged out Sparta Macmerry by the odd goal in nine.
