In what was probably one of the upsets in the round, and one of Brook Street’s finest results, the reserves performed a classic smash and grab to knock Division II side Leatherbacks out of the Tartan Cup this afternoon.

Against all the odds, goals from Andy Harte and Phil Mullally (2) saw Brook Street through to the last sixteen and a tie against Division III side Old Mc Schmutzki next Wednesday.

“They must feel as if they’ve been mugged”, admitted Brook Street coach Leoš Loos at full-time. “On paper we shouldn’t have been able to live with them, yet we’re the ones going into the next round”.

He continued, “They should’ve been far too good for us, so I’m astonished to say the least that we’ve won 3-0”.

“Fair play to my lads, we’ve hit them on the break and scored three of our five chances. How they didn’t score at least one of their eight chances beats me though.

Brook Street now progress to the last sixteen of a national tournament for the first time with the match against Old Mc Schmutzki being played at Airth Castle Rovers’ Turret Park once again.
