Phil Mullally slides home the first of his three goals in this morning’s 5-1 win.

A Phil Mullally hat-trick helped the reserves to a comfortable 5-1 win over Catalunyan visitors CDJosol this morning. Alex Clapperton opened the scoring with a magnificent half-volley just four minutes into the match, and Sam Ferretto doubled the lead twelve minutes later.

Phil hit the first of his goals on the half-hour mark and doubled his tally six minutes before the break to kill the match stone-dead.

Marc Sanchis pulled a goal back midway through the second half, but this was to be no fightback and Phil wrapped up the scoring and his hat-trick six minutes from time.

“There was never any doubting the result when we went three up”, admitted Leoš Loos at full-time. “We were in complete control, and but for some wayward finishing, we could have won by a greater margin”.

He continued, “It was a very professional performance, and we played with real composure and no shortage of skill. The players know that if they perform well in the reserves, they’ll put pressure on those occupying first team places”. He added, “That’s exactly what happened today and there may well be changes in in Saturday’s line-up”, but refused to elaborate.
