Brook Street last night completed the signing of midfielder Oscar MacVarish from Swiss side Galgenen Hot Dogs, the 26 year-old from Dunfermline joining for a fee in the region of £820,000.

Oscar took time to speak to the Official Website and said, “It’s great to be back home. I’ve enjoyed my time in Portugal, Italy, and more recently Switzerland, but I’m really looking forward to playing back home”.

He continued, “Brook Street are going through the mill at the moment, but I had absolutely no hesitation in signing for the club. I hope I can have a long and successful time with the club”.

Coach Marcus Lövman said of the new man, “Oscar will be able to come straight into our midfield as we move to freshen things up and bring in younger players. It could be that we see players moving on, so it’s important that we increase the number of Scottish players in the side”.

This could be the clearest indication yet that either, or both, Paul O’Healihy and José Eransus will be heading out of the club in the near future.

However, the coach refused to be drawn saying only that both players still have a role to play at the club.

Meanwhile, the club announced that Darren Slayter has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

“We’re all hugely disappointed that Darren has not fulfilled the potential he showed at the Youth Academy”, said club spokesman Kyle Fair, “and consequently we have reached an agreement with him to rip up his contract”.

Another player leaving within the next twenty-four hours is Glen Cawdor who, having failed to secure a transfer, will likely be released today.
